Kehidupan awal
Emma yang dilahirkan dengan nama Emily Jean Stone dilahirkan di Scottsdale, Arizona. Ayahnya, Jeff, adalah seorang kontraktor, sedangkan ibunya, Krista, seorang penata rumah. Stone yang memilki garis keturunan Swedia dari ayahnya ini pernah menjadi anggota Valley Youth Theatre, sebuah teater lokal di Phoenix, Arizona tempatnya mengasah bakat aktingnya.Dengan sebuah presentasi Powerpoint, Stone berhasil meyakinkan orang tuanya agar dia diperbolehkan untuk pindah ke California dan mengadu nasib disana. Saat ini Stone diberitakan tengah menjalani hubungan cinta dengan Kieran Culkin, aktor yang juga bermain dengannnya dalam film PAPER MAN.
Karier
Stone mengawali kariernya setelah berhasil mendapatkan peran sebagai Laurie Partridge dalam sebuah acara reality show yang mencari pemain baru dalam film THE NEW PARTRIDGE FAMILY. Stone kemudian muncul dalam MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, LUCKY LOUIE, dan MEDIUM. Stone menunjukkan aktingnya yang memikat dalam film komedi remaja SUPERBAD yang mengantarkannya menjadi pemenang di Young Hollywood Award dalam kategori aktris pendatang baru terbaik pada tahun 2008.
